The Dreamer

When people age, their dreams change,
As they learn more about the world.
I used to dream that I'd be famous.
All kids do, I suppose.
I used to dream that
I'd always have friends.
That dream was the first to go.
I still dream of many things
That I know will never come to pass.
But I also dream of things that may yet be,
If I don't quit trying
To make them come true.

A dream is the first step.
