The Dream Alone in the darkness, Cold, dark, mist surrounds me, Yet beside me is a friend. She takes my hand. There's a light in the dark, That she leads me to, And I see a window to a perfect world. Where all my dreams would come true, Where pain is nothing more, Than a distant, foggy memory. She beckons me onward, Stepping through To the perfect world beyond. I reach out, and the vision shatters, As she leaves me to my pain. I cannot follow where she leads, But she will not stay. Crying out, i fall back Onto the cold, unforgiving ground, As the broken gateway fades. Bruised, battered, bereft, betrayed, I call out her name But only silence answers. The mist swirls to surround me once more, And i am alone again.
